Platform has no accounts, advertising, analytics or third-party SDKs — in the app or on this website.
Your location
Platform asks for location permission (‘While Using the App’) to show your position on the map and move a journey forward as you travel. This happens on your phone. Your location is never uploaded to our servers or sent to anyone else. A journey started in the foreground may keep using your location in the background until it ends. iOS shows its standard location indicator while this happens, and ending the journey stops it immediately.
Motion & Fitness
If you allow it, Platform uses Motion & Fitness data on your phone to tell walking from riding and improve journey tracking. This data never leaves your phone.
Trip history
Platform stores completed trips on your device for 90 days so it can suggest regular journeys. It saves the trip’s start, destination and planned services, not a GPS trace or route recording. You can delete one trip or all history at any time. History is never uploaded, and commute suggestions are calculated on your device and are off by default.
What our servers see
The app requests live transport data through Platform’s server (api.platformtransit.com), which keeps Transport for NSW API credentials off your phone. A request contains the public data being asked for — for example, departures from a stop — but no account or location history. The server keeps short-lived technical logs, including IP addresses, to keep the service reliable and prevent abuse. We do not use these logs to profile you.
Notifications
Get-off alerts, interchange alerts and Live Activities are generated on your device from the journey you started. They do not involve sending your journey to a server.
This website
This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and embeds no third-party content. Its page assets are served from this domain.
Changes
If Platform adds a feature that changes how it handles data, this policy will be updated before the feature launches. Any feature that sends personal data to a server will be opt-in.
