Sydney public transport app
Platform is an app for iPhone and Android. Plan a trip, check departures and follow your journey on trains, metro, buses, ferries and light rail. It tells you when a time is Live, Predicted or from the Timetable. No ads. No account.
Tap a label. Stale and unavailable times are labelled too. What the labels mean

NATIVE ON BOTH
Platform is written separately for each phone, with the controls you already know. Both follow your phone into light or dark mode, and so does this page.

ONE JOURNEY, FIVE STOPS
01
Pick a start and a destination. Platform plans across every mode and keeps the changes together.
02
Departures and your trip say whether a time is Live, Predicted or from the Timetable, so you know what you are looking at.
03
A Live Activity on iPhone and an ongoing notification on Android keep the next part in reach.
04
The next service, the change and the stop stay in view as you travel.
05
Completed trips stay on your device for 90 days, so regular journeys come back sooner.
FIVE MODES. ONE MAP.
Trains, metro, buses, ferries and light rail share one map in Platform, with departures and your journey in the same place.
Illustration, not live vehicle positions. Tap the sky for New Year’s Eve.
A personal journey should stay personal.
Cloud planning sends your start and destination to TfNSW through our proxy. We collect app analytics during beta testing; production will have no app analytics.

This is a dated production sample, not a live counter. Scheduled runs are passenger-eligible trips, counted once per mode, trip ID and service date. Realtime cancellations are not subtracted. Fresh positions use the vehicle timestamp, not the time of our last request.
A FEW THINGS TO KNOW
Nothing. Everything in the app is free, including saved trips, live data, Live Activities on iPhone and tracking notifications on Android. There are no ads and nothing to pay for, and we don’t plan to add paid tiers.
Mostly, but not blindly. Times come from Transport for NSW and they can be late, wrong or missing. Check station signs, announcements and official sources before you travel, especially when you’re cutting it fine. See the terms of use and disclaimer.
Both are native apps, with controls designed for their platform. iPhone supports Live Activity tracking, Dynamic Island and Apple Watch. Android uses an ongoing notification and a journey widget. Some beta features differ.
No. Live, Predicted, Timetable, Stale and Unavailable are kept distinct where Platform can tell. If TfNSW cannot provide fresh data, Platform aims to show the source and age rather than present old data as live.
A beta trip link contains a short-lived trip snapshot and never includes your GPS position. It expires after eight hours, or you can stop sharing earlier. Saved trips can sync through your private iCloud account on Apple devices; completed-trip history stays on the device.
We are testing Platform on real journeys before the public release. The iPhone and Android beta builds can change, and Android Closed test access requires an eligible account. App analytics are collected during beta testing and will be absent from production.
WHO’S BUILDING PLATFORM
We’ve been annoyed by transport apps for as long as we’ve been catching trains. Half the time you can’t tell whether a time is live or just the timetable, and we never liked the idea of paying a subscription for data Transport for NSW publishes for free.
Immanuel started building Platform at an OpenAI Codex event in 2026, and Hunter joined later to bring it to Android. The rule is simple: if a time isn’t live, Platform says so. The rest is us fixing the small things that bugged us on our own trips, and making it something you actually like opening.
